Engagement session - How to pick a location?

One of the elements to consider for your photoshoot is the location. The good news is, its not the most important bit. But you'll agree that it will set the mood of the pictures. Here are a few things to help you find the perfect location for you.

A location that works for you Choose something you are drawn to and what works for you. If you are a coffee connoisseur, maybe opting for a shoot at your favourite local coffee shop sounds more appealing to you.. after all, its your photoshoot and you want to inject as much of "you" into the photos.

Outfit that matches the location Nothing looks more out of place than wearing bikinis at say, in the middle of the business district. Consider flowy dresses for location with a bit of wind, in a field, beach or near a bay. Or, a cute sweater and walking boots if you're after a relaxed, casual, cosy winter/ autumn look.

Loving those sun drenched look? It's not about where, It's about when.

Ahh.. those warm magical sunlight. If you're after those romantic glow of light in your photos, then we're on the same page! I like to usually shoot approximately 2 hours after the sun rises and 2 hours just before the sun sets for the amazing lights where everything looks beautiful and dreamy.

Keep in mind as well that the sun moves and the time may be different between colder months and summer time and whether it is a cloudy day.

Bring your walking shoes If you like a spot with a to-die-for view, planning to hike up mile uphill in killer heels is probably not going to be the best day of your life (believe me, I learnt the hard way). If you are planning to wear heels for the photoshoot, always carry a second pair of comfortable walking shoes. Your feet will thank you for it.
